The notorious Salt Bae has been the victim of yet another social media trolling – a viral video allegedly showing his New York restaurant in disrepair on a Friday night.

Salt Bae, whose real name is Nusret Gökçe, rose to fame in 2017 with a viral meme of his bizarre method of seasoning meat.
Armed with flaky salt and a giant tomahawk steak, he took the internet by storm and has since expanded his portfolio of Instagrammable steak restaurants — known as Nusr-Et — around the world.
His net worth is said to be worth £40million and his combined Instagram followers total 50million, but the social media star has a potential new PR disaster ahead of him.
TikToker Simon Metin recently posted a video showing him entering the infamous steakhouse at what appears to be 6pm on a Friday to find the place seemingly empty.
The British TikToker then pokes fun at the restaurateur while perusing the outrageously expensive menu. It’s peppered with $35 salads and $85 appetizers, but the real excitement comes from the meat selection.
Steak prices range from around $100 to $1190 depending on whether you want to wrap your steak in real gold.
The highest price is the infamous “24k gold plated Wagyu tomahawk” steak with high marble content.
“Are my eyes deceiving me? No, these prices are real…” writes Metin and shows his stunned face.
“Are these cows fed gold?” he asks.
Metin’s bio reads: ‘UK lad in LA. I travel and eat stuff” didn’t even stay long enough to eat Salt Bae’s food.
“Saltbae trips…I’m out faster than The Flash…” he says, exiting the restaurant.
The video has made waves in Salt Bae’s homeland as headlines ask “Is Nasret going bankrupt?”.
Turkey’s media has been concerned about how well its steak empire is really doing when one of its flagship restaurants sits empty on the busiest night of the week.
Another front page read: “Is celebrity butcher Nusret’s restaurant going bankrupt?”

In response to the video, TikTok users flocked to the comments section to poke fun at the overpriced food selection and the man behind it.
“The most realistic food review of Salt Bae iv I’ve seen. Glad you didn’t miss your food mortgage payment,” one user quipped.
Another very popular comment read: “He’s going out of business soon. The hype is over.”
A third said: “You should never have made a fool of yourself at the World Cup final, smh”.
Startled by the menu prices, another said: “Meatballs with cheese and fries is $45 he’s lost his friggin’ mind.”
The social media star travels back and forth in private jets between his global empire of gold-leaf steaks, including his 15th-place finish at Knightsbridge, which grossed £7million in the first four months
Still, the London restaurant has suffered a string of bad reviews and staff have admitted they make just £10.50 an hour – a third of the cost of a salad.
In his luxurious lifestyle, he snuggles up to the rich and famous, jets around the world and calls a huge penthouse in Istanbul home.
Most recently, the former butcher drew attention to himself at the World Cup when he was on the pitch with Argentina’s team as they celebrated their victory.
The incident caught him in a heated media storm after videos surfaced of him molesting Lionel Messi and snatching the World Cup trophy.
Online users slammed Salt Bae for “winning the World Cup without playing a game”, while FIFA later confirmed the chef should not be allowed onto the pitch and opened an investigation.
In the same month, the Turkish restaurateur was trolled for his rude behavior at the table after a video circulated of him talking on Air Pods while serving a customer.
The disgruntled customer had paid Salt Bae $500 to personally carve his steak at Nusr-Et in Doha, Qatar, but was disappointed when the muscleman’s attention was elsewhere.
The dissatisfied Ehtisham Aziz gave the restaurant a dismal 1.7 out of 10.
However, Gökçe seems either unaware or unfazed by this negativity as he recently took to Instagram to show off his luxe daily schedule at his Instabul Palace penthouse.
The “salt life” continues to rock.
Gökçe and his team were asked to comment on this story.
