EX-FOOTBALLER Ryan Giggs was an idol on the pitch but an abusive “gaslighter” of his ex-girlfriend in his personal life, a court has found.
Behind Gigg’s public role behind the former Manchester United and Wales international, who is accused of headbutting his ex-girlfriend, was a “much uglier and sinister side of his character,” Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court heard.
The jury was told that the 48-year-old’s personal life included a “litany of physical and psychological abuse of a woman he allegedly loved.”
Giggs denies using controlling and coercive behavior against ex-girlfriend, public relations executive Kate Greville, between August 2017 and November 2020.
He has also pleaded not guilty to assaulting the 36-year-old, actually assaulting her and assaulting her younger sister Emma Greville at his home in Worsley, Greater Manchester on November 1, 2020.

“Ryan’s ex-wife hated me,” Kate says in court
Kate Greville told the court she felt Gigg’s ex-wife “hated” her.
She said: “There was a massive issue with his ex-wife, she hated me.
“He kept the kids very separate and often lied to them about where he was and if he was with me.
“It didn’t feel right why he didn’t introduce me. I had a feeling he apologized.
“He still said he wanted a family because he made me come back by saying he wanted us to have kids.
“The stuff didn’t fit, he told me he was somewhere and it didn’t fit.”

Kate claims Giggs told her he broke up with Stacey: “He would tell me one thing and then I would hear another.
“It all came out in May 2016. It was awful. I’ve been hounded by the paps and emails from the media.
“His ex-wife and daughter sent me bad news.
“I wanted to protect him, so I said nothing happened.
“Then I found out he’d been living with Stacey the whole time.”

Ryan Giggs’ ex-girlfriend has told the court how much she was in love with the former Man U star.
She said: “He would say I was his soulmate. We would talk for hours.
“He helped me get out of this situation.”
There were “red flags” when she ignored Giggs and he claimed “she was ‘someone else'”.
“I was basically madly in love with him,” she added.
