RYAN Giggs assault trial has been postponed again to courthouse test for deadly asbestos.
The Manchester United legend, 48, is accused of coercive control and assault on ex-girlfriend Kate Greville, 36, at her £1.7million home in Worsley, Gtr Manchester.
That same evening, November 1, 2020, he faces an additional assault charge against her sister Emma after a night out.
Giggs was due in court in January but was delayed by seven months due to a backlog of cases caused by Covid.
It was due to start on Monday but Manchester Crown Court has been forced to close for two weeks to test for asbestos.
A potential site of the carcinogen was discovered in the basement of the 1960s building.
It is understood that a routine asbestos survey indicated the need for further testing, but no asbestos particles have been found in the air to date.
The square will not reopen until it has been declared safe.
It was initially closed for a week last Friday, but this has now been increased to two.
A hearing will be held at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Thursday to decide whether the trial can be transferred to another court or whether it will be adjourned again.
