Ruth Langsford will stay with ITV following the news of her husband Eamonn Holmes’ resignation This morning.

It was recently confirmed that Eamonn, 62, had left the morning show for rival channel GB News.

The veteran reporter’s departure was confirmed today by GB News after The Mirror exclusively revealed the star will be moving in November.

Eamonn has been with his wife since 2006, and Ruth started her This Morning career in 2000.

“We want to wish Eamonn all the best in his new role,” a spokesperson explained.

“As a duo, Eamonn and Ruth have been part of the team presenting This Morning for the past 15 years and we thank Eamonn for all of his contributions and hard work to the show.”

They continued: “Ruth remains an important part of ITV Daytime as a continuing member of the This Morning family and main presenter on Loose Women.”

In November 2020, ITV revealed that Ruth and Eamonn would be leaving their positions on the Friday morning show.

Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond have taken their places starting January 2021.

Eamonn and Ruth only appear on the magazine show during the holidays to cover the main hosts. Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

Meanwhile, Eamonn will host the new show in the New Year and is said to be ‘excited’ in her new role and able to ‘speak the voice of the unheard’.

Eamonn released a statement saying, “I’ve spent my career broadcasting early shows and startups, and GB News is one of the most exciting.

“It’s just the kind of shakeup the industry needs.”

He added: “I admired GB News from the beginning for its clever blend of heated debates but with warmth and even a bit of fun.

“For me, the greatest honor in journalism is to have a voice and respect for people who haven’t heard, and that’s exactly what GB News is all about.”

Last month, an insider revealed to the Mirror: “Eamonn’s move to GB News marks the end of an era. He will be missed by many. ITV but, the truth is, this job offer probably came at the right time for both him and ITV. All good things will come to an end. ”
