Despite initial fears, the country would quickly fall into Russian hands, with power believed to be running out instead. Kremlin when the fake invasion dragged on.

A clip that specifically paints a picture of their defeats shows a Russian Su-25 fighter jet being destroyed as it zips over Kharkiv.

The plane turned into a ball of fire as it plummeted to the ground, delighting Ukrainians as they watched below.

The governor of the Kharkiv region, Oleg Synegubov, said his city’s Air Defense Forces had subdued the target with two surface-to-air missiles.

The plane can be seen blowing up over Ukraine’s second city before crashing to the ground and exploding again on impact.

Synegubov said the jet was part of a Russian aircraft corps that is conducting regular bombing campaigns over the city.

In recent days, Kharkiv has been subjected to explosives from the sky after Putin ordered his henchmen to launch lethal missiles at multiple locations.

But despite the devastating attacks, Ukraine staunchly resisted while international pressure piled on Putin.

Just yesterday the footage appeared about Russian pilots beg for their lives when they were captured by soldiers and civilians.

The photos show the burning wreckage of the Russian plane and the terrified faces of Putin’s men as they are detained after leaving the plane.

Footage shared online shows the pilots with their hands tied behind their backs – some bloody after a desperate escape, while explaining that they were simply “following orders”.

Ukraine today announced it has killed 11,000 Russian troops since the invasion began.

With 11 days passed since the first attack, that means Putin lost about 1,000 men every day.

It comes as:

They also say that they destroyed 44 aircraft, 48 helicopters, 33 tanks, 109 cannons and 985 armored personnel carriers, when President Zelenskyy’s army heroically fought back.

But Russian air strikes are believed to have killed hundreds – possibly thousands – of civilians across Ukraine.

Putin has seen his invasion met with staunch resistance and also beset by embarrassing logistical failures and supply problems.

And despite possessing one of the largest air forces in the world, Russian aircraft are unlikely to be able to guarantee air superiority over Ukraine.

Yesterday, one of the most striking videos of the war was released, when a Russian “Hind” helicopter was shot out of the sky by a fused missile.

The Bellingcat investigative press team geolocated the footage to Kozarovychi in Kyiv Oblast – about 25 miles from the capital.

PUTIN TO KNOW DOWN PEG

Users on social networks suggested that the helicopter could be a Mil Mi-24 Hind fighter, used by the Soviet military since 1972 and dubbed the “flying tank”.

That was the start of a string of Russian casualties – with reports of five fighter jets and helicopters being shot down.

Two MI-8 helicopters and two MI-35s are believed to have been shot down, along with fighters including two Su-34s, two Su-25s and one Su-30SM.

Separate clips showed Ukrainians cheering and clapping as they appeared to shoot down two Russian planes accompanying Chernihiv and Mykolaiv.

In further embarrassment for the Kremlin, their losses were mocked around the world on social media.

It would certainly make the Russian leader egotistical, who was enraged by Western sanctions against his regime, seeing them as a “declaration of war”.

INVITATION IS A ‘MESSAGE’

He also warned that anyone trying to enforce a no-fly zone over Ukraine would be seen as having participated in the conflict.

His men have now been charged dropped 500kg bombs on civilians in Chernihiv.

Photographs taken from cities and towns show the anguish of people racing for their lives or sprawled on the ground as they crouched by the raging flames.

It comes as Britain’s Chief of the General Staff of Defense says that Russia has “put itself in disarray” because of its invasion of Ukraine.

Admiral Sir Tony Radakin thinks that Russian military morale is dwindling and that the Kremlin has lost more troops in a week than the UK in 20 years in Afghanistan.

“We know that some of the top elements of Russian forces have been destroyed by Ukraine’s response,” he said.
