RUSSIAN troops have been ordered to withdraw while Ukraine’s southern tanks attack their positions – and President Zelensky vowed he “will not stop”.
A Putin stooge confirmed an order to “regroup” as pro-Russian blogs revealed the frontline had collapsed.
The lightning-fast advance puts Ukraine’s defenders within striking distance of the city of Kherson — the only provincial capital captured since February 24 and still under Russian control.
Thousands of Russian troops are encircled on the west bank of the Dnipro after the only bridges across the four-mile-wide river were blitzed with US and UK long-range missiles.
State-owned media outlet RIA Novosti in Moscow quoted Kherson official Kirill Stremousov as saying the troops were “conducting a redeployment to rally their forces and launch a retaliatory strike.”
Russian troops are expected to fall back to the Inhulets River, just a few kilometers east of the city.
If they can’t stop Ukraine’s advance, analysts warned Russian troops would loot inflatable boats and yachts from the city’s marinas in a bid to escape at all costs.
The retreat of Putin’s thugs to the southern Black Sea region was branded a “disaster” by Russian reporter Roman Saponkov.
He listed several areas where Ukraine had recently triumphed and said they were “plentifully soaked in the blood of our soldiers”.
The main thrust of the invasions of Ukraine was along the west bank of the Dnipro, while a pincer movement attacked from the north.
Maps released by Moscow’s Defense Ministry showed the significant loss of territory, including the village of Dudcany next to the Mammoth River.
Putin’s puppet officials previously admitted they had lost control of the territory and troops are on the run.
Dudchany is about 25 miles south of where the front stood just a day earlier, indicating one of the fastest advances in the war.
It comes just days after Putin declared the entire Kherson region, along with three other regions, to be part of Russia.
On Wednesday, a Russian social media channel claimed that the village of Snihurivka was liberated by Ukrainian forces.
President Zelensky hailed it as a “swift and forceful advance in the south”.
He said: “Dozens of settlements have already been liberated from Russia’s mock referendum this week alone.
“In particular, according to military reports from the Kherson region: the settlements of Lyubymivka, Khreshchenivka, Solota Balka, Bilyaivka, Ukrainka, Velyka and Mala Oleksandrivka, as well as Davydiv Brid were liberated from occupation and stabilized.
“And that’s far from an exhaustive list.”
He added: “Our warriors don’t stop. And it’s only a matter of time before we drive the occupiers out of our entire country.”
Ukraine’s military previously said enemy troops were “demoralized” after losing their strongholds.
Soldiers are said to have destroyed ammunition depots and bridges on their way “to slow down our troops’ offensive”.
