Ukrainian protesters in London were emotional as they spoke of “anger” about the Russian invasion.
Hundreds of people gathered outside the Russian embassy in Kensington and in Downing Street today to call for Vladimir Putin to withdraw from Ukraine.
Waving flags, banners and banners, protesters sang the Ukrainian national anthem and chanted “Putin stop the war”, Putin goes home” and “Free Ukraine”.
Helena Kovalenko, 33, of Ukrainian descent, told the PA news agency: “I am very angry with Putin for invading my Ukraine.
“I have family there, my mom and dad, and I’m scared of them.”
Ms Kovalenko, who has lived in the UK for nine years, added: “I’m here today to appeal to the country for help – Putin has to go.”
The crowd, blocking the way outside the embassy, shouted “take down Putin” and held up posters comparing the Russian leader to Hitler.
