MAD Vlad’s troops have failed two more attempts to cross a river in Ukraine after 73 vehicles and a thousand soldiers were blown up in a tank graveyard.
The soldiers were obliterated by Ukrainian artillery as they attempted to recover men and equipment stranded on the wrong side of the Donets River near Biolhorivka in the Donbass.
Hundreds of Russian vessels and Mets remained trapped after their first attempt to cross the waterway failed spectacularly on May 8 when their pontoon bridges were sunk by Ukrainian fire.
It is estimated that more than 50 vehicles were destroyed and 1,000 soldiers killed in the surprise counterattack by Ukrainian troops, who correctly guessed the exact position the Russians were trying to cross.
Their second mission proved a miserable failure, as new satellite images showed another sunken pontoon bridge and half a dozen abandoned military vehicles.
According to Ukrainian investigative site InformNapalm, Russia lost a total of more than 70 vehicles and saw two infantry battalions stopped trying to cross the river in four days.
It’s been a humiliating week for Russian forces who have been forced out of the eastern city of Kharhiv and surrounding villages.
It comes nearly a month after Putin’s exhausted and exhausted forces were forced to pull out of Kyiv and were later repulsed by a ragtag band of territorial defense troops and civilians after “heavy” Mykolaiv losses.
Meanwhile, embarrassing footage has emerged showing a Russian military unit retreating from Kharkiv.
The 50-second clip, posted on Twitter, allegedly shows Luhansk’s mobilized troops being abandoned after withdrawing from Kharkiv.
It comes as Mad Vlad’s forces suffered another humiliating week:
They were allegedly not allowed to re-enter Russia.
“People have been standing at the border for two days, they are not being let go and without comment,” says a translated transcript of the soldier’s speech.
“They threaten us with poison, shots and so on.”
It seems that Russian commanders tried to encircle the cities of Lysychansk and Severodonetsk by crossing the water body, but their surprise attack was thwarted by Ukrainian troops, who correctly guessed their plans.
“THEY WERE HIT WHATEVER”
Maxim, a Twitter user who claims to be a Ukrainian military engineer, said he identified the exact spot that Russia found at 7 pontoon bridge.
On May 8, Russian troops covered the river by burning nearby fields and firing smoke grenades, the military engineer said.
His commanders heard the sound of boat engines and used drones to spot the battalion before ordering a devastating artillery strike.
“About 20 minutes after the reconnaissance unit confirmed that the Russian bridge was being assembled, heavy artillery was used against Russian forces, and then aviation also intervened,” Maxim said.
“I was still in the area and I have never seen or heard such a heavy fight in my life.
“After a day of fighting, on the morning of May 9, the bridge was destroyed.
“Some Russian forces – about 30 to 50 vehicles and infantry – were stuck on the Ukrainian side of the river with no way back.
“They tried to run away across the broken bridge. Then they tried to build a new bridge.
“Aviation began heavy bombing of the area, destroying whatever remains of the Russians there and the other bridge they were trying to build.
“Rumors speak of 1,500 dead Russians. Their strategic goal was to cross the river and then encircle Lysychansk. They failed miserably.”
According to Forbes, more than 50 vehicles and up to 1,000 Russian soldiers were killed in the attack.
The Donets River is just one of several water barriers that the Russians must cross to advance west into Ukrainian-held territory and achieve their goal of conquering the Donbass.
Images of the bloody battle show the coast littered with bombed-out T-72 and T-80 tanks and armored vehicles.
A tugboat was obliterated, along with two pontoon bridges that were left adrift in the river, showing huge shell holes on them.
The humiliating defeat comes as Mad Vlad’s coveted military gear – regularly displayed as a sign of Russian military might – is decimated by Ukrainian missiles.
A Russian tank was reportedly blown up and its turret thrown 250ft into the sky after a Ukrainian missile attack, while dramatic footage was captured the moment a Russian helicopter was destroyed by an enemy drone on Snake Island.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his men had driven out Russian troops from the eastern city of Kharkiv and are beginning to encircle them in the strategic city of Izyum.
Brave Ukrainian defenders pushed the invaders out of the city and back across the border.
The push means Ukrainian artillery can now reach the key city of Vovchansk, which contains a vital highway and railway line to supply Russian forces in Donbass.
The British Ministry of Defense said Russian troops stationed around Kharkiv were “vulnerable to the mobile and highly motivated Ukrainian counterattack force”.
“Despite Russia’s success in encircling Kharkiv in the early stages of the conflict, it has reportedly withdrawn units from the region to reorganize and replenish its forces after heavy casualties,” the ministry said in an update Thursday morning.
“Once restored, these forces will likely be stationed on the east bank of the Donets River forming a containment force to protect the western flank of Russia’s main force concentration and the main supply routes for operations near Izyum.
“The withdrawal of Russian forces from Kharkiv is a tactical acknowledgment of Russia’s inability to capture key Ukrainian cities where they expected limited popular resistance.”
