Russell Crowe reveals the weird name he gave his gladiator costume

RUSSELL Crowe has revealed that he called his costume in Gladiator a “netball uniform” because it had a skirt.
The 59-year-old actor also admitted he was drawn to the role of Zeus in Marvel film Thor: Love and Thunder because he got to wear a skirt in it.

Speaking to the Empire podcast, Russell said: “I’ve had quite a bit of success wearing skirts in the past – Maximus had a pretty little one.
“I used to call it ‘the netball uniform.'”
He also revealed that he shot his scenes twice in the latest Thor movie.
He filmed her with an English accent and again with a Greek accent, which is seen in the final cut.
He explained: “Originally him [director Taika Waititi] wanted me to do the character with an English accent and I kind of resisted it because I felt it was unfair on behalf of Greeks around the world.
“I just thought, ‘Let me try this,’ so they did.
“But that meant my days of shooting were pretty difficult because we shot every single scene twice.
“We shot once with me with a Greek accent and once with an English accent.
“And the producers at the time said do it like that, and then we’ll examine both, and we’ll go with the characterization that elicits the most response.
“So, true to their word, when they showed Zeus as a Greek man who won by a mile, they went for the Greek accent. It was much fun.”
Russell won an Oscar for the 2000 hit “Gladiator” and won Best Actor.
