In a video posted on his Twitter, the 48-year-old said that the allegations dated back to when he was still in the “mainstream.”

Details of the allegations were not disclosed.

Brand said: “I have received two extremely disturbing letters or a letter and an email.

“One from a mainstream media television company, one from a newspaper that lists a litany of extremely egregious and aggressive attacks.”

He added: “Amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque attacks, often very serious allegations, which I absolutely refute.”

“These allegations relate to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the cinema.

“And as I have detailed in my books, I was very, very promiscuous.

“During this period of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual.

“I was always transparent about that. Then it was almost too transparent, and now I’m transparent too.”

He emphasized that he “completely rejects” the allegations.

It was announced on Friday that Channel 4 will highlight the behavior of an A-list celebrity in a Dispatches program airing at 9pm on Saturday evening.

A source told The Mirror: “This program has been years in the making and is being worked on right up to the last minute.”
