If you already have a Iphone for a while, chances are you’ve had memory issues.

We install more apps, save an increasing number of photos, and save music for offline listening.

And as file sizes grow – movies are now often in 4K, for example – it’s easy to run out of space.

Thankfully, there is an option to quickly free up memory.

It’s called Offload Unused Apps and it shows up in your iPhone settings.

This feature will remove apps that you don’t use often from your phone.

But it backs up those apps’ personal content in the cloud.

That means you won’t lose any of your settings or files in the app.

However, the real apps will be deleted until you want to use them again.

“Automatically offload unused apps when you’re running low on memory,” Apple advises.

“Your documents and data will be saved.”

Apple will only offload apps that you don’t use often.

When The Sun tested the feature, it freed up a staggering 38.17GB of data.

And it may be more for you.

Many recent iPhone models have shipped with 64GB of standard storage.

So freeing up that much storage space is a significant amount of money.

Just go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage and then tap Enable on Turn off loading unused apps.

You can also use the list of memory-clogging apps on this page to figure out which apps are worth removing manually.

There’s a chance that an app or game you don’t love is taking up a lot of space.

Or maybe there’s another app that’s also taking up a lot of space.

For example, Apple Music or Spotify may be storing a significant number of songs – taking up storage space.

So consider clearing the cache of those songs to free up some space.

It could be the same story for apps like Podcasts or WhatsApp, which can be lightweight apps – but packed with optionally downloaded media.
