Former America’s Got Talent star Roslyn Singleton, who also appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show, has died aged 39 after a battle with brain cancer.
Singleton’s husband Ray announced her death on Wednesday, saying his wife “earned her wings” the day before.
“Our wife earned her wings yesterday sleeping peacefully at home where she wanted to be,” Ray shared on Instagram with a portrait of his wife.
“This road ahead is going to be INCREDIBLY long and difficult! She taught us all SOMETHING.
“She’s where we all want to be someday, so no need to be sad! Now we celebrate her legacy, her impact, her story and her spirit!
She will LIVE FOREVER!! #LongLiveRos #F***Cancer.”
Singleton went viral two years ago after her husband uploaded a video of him serenading her just before she had surgery for her brain tumour.
The touching clip landed the happy couple on Ellen DeGeneres’ show earlier this year, where Singleton shared that she was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2013 and found that her tumor was the size of an orange.
“Even though I have this situation, it doesn’t defeat me. It doesn’t bring me down,” Singleton said on the show.
“It doesn’t make me feel ‘why me?’ It makes me feel, ‘Thank God it was me.’ That’s how I feel.”
Singleton, a US Navy veteran, was in remission for six years before being diagnosed with another tumor.
In 2021, Ray auditioned for America’s Got Talent.
He brought the audience and judges to tears when Roslyn joined him on stage to tell her story.
Singleton told the judges she had “cried since him [Ray] started his performance and that she had “never heard him sing so well”.
The beautiful couple were profiled on the network’s OWN docuseries Black Love, which highlighted their history as a couple.
Singleton is survived by her husband Ray.
