‘Roman has the right to decide’ – Abramovich still says who buys Chelsea even though he does not receive a dime when the bid is successful

ROMAN ABRAMOVICH may be sanctioned by the UK government, but he still has the final say on who to sell Chelsea to.

The Russian tycoon has received an offer worth more than £2 billion from real estate mogul and lifelong Blues fan Nick Candy.

Candy has promised fans to join the club if he is successful, while also saying he will redevelop Stamford Bridge.

But whether Abramovich, whose assets have been frozen, will accept his bid remains in his hands.

Abramovich, who has been banned by the Premier League as a director, cannot make a dime from the sale of the outfit in West London.

However, he is still the key decision-maker in deciding who will become Chelsea’s next owner.

Speaking to SunSport, Candy said: “Although it’s a sanctioned club, Roman gets to decide where it goes.

“People may not like it, but it’s his club – it’s sanctioned – but it’s his club.”
