The hit family action-adventure comedy was the talk of the playground when the film debuted in 2001. Each child wanted to be either Carmen or June Cortez, hoping to discover that their parents were also international spies.
Created and directed by Robert Rodriguez, the film paired the coolness of action movies with the warm-hearted, coming-of-age family drama that children’s movies tend to champion. Its success spawned a franchise that has spawned three other films and a Netflix Original animated series.
Now, 21 years after the first film hit the market, the magic is trying to rekindle.

Unlike 2011 Spy Kids: All the time in the world, the reboot will not be a product of the story that previously came with all the new characters.
