Rishi Sunak’s latest deal with France was blown out of the water when ten ships carrying 442 migrants arrived on Sunday

Choppy water

On most days this year, zero migrants have landed illegally from small boats so far.

Unfortunately, that’s where the good news ends.

Because any optimism that Rishi Sunak’s latest deal with France might work was quashed when ten ships arrived on Sunday.

The 442 on board were lured in part by a brazen ad campaign by Albanian gangs on TikTok with cheap fares, minus a bring-a-friend discount.

Most are practically guaranteed a new life here. You know it.

The smugglers do the same and make fun of Britain’s helplessness.

“They deport 50, but we send 500,” says one ad.

“No one will bring you back,” says another. Who can argue?

Home Office officials predict a record-breaking 80,000 could arrive illegally in 2023:

The population of a medium-sized city in just one year, using just one method.

All must be fed and housed from public funds.

That would be catastrophic for a Prime Minister who has promised to “stop the boats”.

But it will surely soon be clear that tweaked deals with France and crackdowns on social media aren’t going to work.

Deporting thousands and building a real deterrent requires laws that overrule the European Convention on Human Rights.

The left will fight this to the death.

Do the Tories have the courage to do this?

Heavily in debt

The Treasury has ‘overdrawn’ £27.4 billion to keep Britain afloat.

Much of that was interest on our already massive debt.

Billions more financed the handouts to keep energy costs down.

Are public sector unions arguing that we need to borrow MORE to fund their inflation-plus demands?

Don’t they remember that the government rescued its members and preserved their jobs during Covid – and is still cushioning them from the economic fallout from Putin’s war?

These grim numbers are also an unwelcome wake-up call for those calling for immediate tax cuts.

We’d love to see them – but Rishi Sunak needs to stabilize the economy first.

That’s the priority.

trans madness

Adam Graham attacked his victims as a muscular man.

He now self-identifies as a woman, Isla Bryson, who the court heard “used her penis” to rape.

Bryson is yet to undergo surgery and also reportedly doesn’t have a gender swap certificate.

She spent last night in a women’s prison.

And if you think THAT’s crazy, the SNP’s new trans law would make self-identification a lot easier and women-only spaces even LESS safe.

The Tories are right to block them across the UK.
