Ex-Towie star Kate, 31, who is expecting a sister for her baby boy, is also stepmother to Rio’s three children with late first wife Rebecca.
The former centre-back, who also played for West Ham, Leeds United and QPR in his career, was selected from a shortlist of 15 after a vote by fans around the world.
Ferdinand became the 17th player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame after inducting eight legendary stars in both 2021 and 2022.
He joins Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger in the “Class of 2023”, with the two Premier League icons being the first managers to be inducted.
Ferdinand is one of the greatest top defenders of all time. He has won six Premier League titles and made 504 appearances.
Looking back on his performance, a delighted Premier League Ferdinand said: “As a defender, I’m not used to celebrating personal glory – we’ll leave that to the midfielders and forwards!”
Rio and Kate tied the knot in front of 180 friends and family on the sun-kissed coast of Marmaris, Turkey in September 2019.
The ceremony took place at a five-star resort, which costs between £300 and £5000 a night for a room.
The 196-room hotel is surrounded by stunning sea and mountain views, and The Sun revealed friends and family flew out early to enjoy its perks.
Kate enjoyed a hilarious bachelorette party in Mykonos in June 2019 – just over seven months after their engagement.
