Ring Magazine’s top 10 pound-for-pound boxers revealed, with NO Tyson Fury and his rival ranking first

TYSON FURY is NOT one of Ring Magazine’s top ten pound-for-pound boxers.

The Gypsy King reigns as the WBC Heavyweight Champion but is not considered one of the top ten fighters in the world by the prestigious magazine.

And to make matters worse, fellow heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk is #1 on the list.

Although Usyk agreed to Fury’s 70-30 contract demands, a clash between the duo originally scheduled for April 29 at Wembley never materialized.

Fury IS Ring Magazine’s second best heavyweight boxer, ahead of the likes of Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.

Here, SunSport examines Ring Magazine’s latest top ten in full.

1. Oleksandr Usyk – Heavyweight

The former undisputed cruiserweight champion now reigns supreme over the heavyweight division.

Usyk, 36, defeated Anthony Joshua for a second time last August after previously fighting for Ukraine in the war with Russia.

He is likely to return to action in the summer against WBA mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois.

2. Naoya Inoue – bantamweight

Like Usyk, Naoya Inoue retains an incredible unbeaten record as a professional boxer.

The 30-year-old defeated Nonito Donaire in June last year before beating England’s Paul Butler in Tokyo last December.

3. Terence Crawford – Welterweight

Another undefeated star, 39-0 Crawford, dropped a spot from his second-place finish on this list last year.

The American has only fought once in the last 12 months, defeating David Avanesyan last December.

Crawford, 35, was ordered to defend his WBO belt against Alexis Rocha later that year.

4. Errol Spence – Welterweight

Welterweight star Spence has not been in action for the past 12 months.

He last fought in April last year when he defeated Yordenis Ugas.

Fans are holding onto hope that one day they will see Spence in the ring with Terence Crawford in a blockbuster match.

5. Canelo Alvarez – Super Middleweight/Light Heavyweight

Having previously been number 1 in this list, Canelo Alvarez sits in fifth place this time.

The Mexican remains super middleweight king after defeating Gennady Golovkin last September and recovering from his light heavyweight loss to Dmitry Bivol.

Canelo will be back in action on May 6th when he fights John Ryder.

6. Dmitry Bivol – light heavyweight

Bivol, 32, is the only man to have beaten Canelo Alvarez since 2013.

The Russian, who has a 21-0 record, last defeated Gilberto Ramirez in November.

He could fight Canelo again later this year, although his next opponent has not yet been confirmed.

8. Josh Taylor – Super light

WBO super lightweight champion Josh Taylor has not played since his controversial decision win over Jack Catterall in February last year.

Despite calls for a rematch, Taylor maintained after the fight that there was no need to push him back.

The Scot will be back in action on June 10 when he takes on Teofimo Lopez in New York.
