Chelsea tribute to Kit-Man
A Chelsea statement was issued following the death of Kit Man Eric Asiedu.
It read: “It is with great sadness that Chelsea Football Club learned of the passing of our colleague Eric Asiedu.
“Eric, in his role as Academy Kitman at our Cobham Training Grounds, was a hugely popular personality who always went about his work with an infectious smile and a wonderful positive attitude. He will be sorely missed by all of us and the pain of his sudden passing will be felt by many.
“Eric, affectionately referred to as ‘The Boss’ by players and staff alike, has done everything possible to build strong relationships with those he has worked with in the under-18 age group.
“He was a caring mentor and confidant in the dressing room for players taking their first tentative steps into full-time football while he meticulously went about his daily duties.
“He is a humble and warm character who joined Chelsea FC in April 2013. His presence and personality have proven to be an integral part of the values of our Academy culture. He’s been a constant on the sidelines for many of our youth team’s victories over the years.”
It added: “Eric’s passion for the job, the players he supported and his love for Chelsea was visible to all and will be sorely missed. Everyone at Chelsea sends our deepest condolences to Eric’s family and friends at this most difficult time.”
