Rich Franklin offers two tips for young MMA hopefuls

Franklin is rich posted some valuable advice for the next generation of mixed martial artists on his official Instagram account yesterday.
The ONE Championship vice president may have retired a decade ago, but the multiple-time MMA world champion is constantly on the lookout for new talent and supporting them in their careers.
His first piece of advice for young MMA hopefuls focuses on setting up a good support system and team.
“First, it’s all about the people around you. You need to find a good institute and that doesn’t just mean an academy with an instructor with a great reputation or a lot of knowledge or tough training partners, it’s an academy there really are those things, as well as a culture that will shape you as you grow up… As the old saying goes, iron grinds iron. But irons only sharpen each other if they are working to sharpen each other. “Second, take your time. I see a lot of athletes rushing into their amateur careers because they want to make money, get on the big stage, they focus on all that glitz, money, cars, titles and all. things they saw when they were kids… Take your time in your amateur career. That amateur career is meant to teach you things you can’t learn in martial arts lessons. Things like: how do you react when a bright light hits your face, what do you do with the adrenaline rush, how do you adjust your speed during a match, what do you do when your plan Your game is off, how do you tune, listen to your angle. Those are the things that you can’t learn in a martial arts lesson, but you have to learn through experience. “
