But according to her former co-star Kathryn Edwards, 55, who starred in one season of the show, Lisa didn’t want to leave and was involved in orchestrating the Bravo reality show’s storylines.
“I do not believe that [Vanderpump] wanted to get off the Housewife show,” Edwards explained on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast shortly after the news broke.
She continued, “I think she felt like she had to play her hand and I think she’s been trying to keep up with some of the stuff that I know to a certain extent.”
Edwards, who starred in Season 6 of the reality series, went on to claim that Lisa controls the show’s storylines.
“She asked for some specific things that the show wouldn’t give her to do better so she could save face,” the former reality star said.
“And she went away. But she got a bit too big for the ensemble cast, in my opinion. And she was producing, she was trying to control the storylines.”
Kathryn told Yontef about a specific incident when the group was filming a scene at costar Erika Jayne’s house and the situation was taken in a different direction by Vanderpump.
“We shot the scene with Erika and Tom [Girardi] was there,” she said.
“And it was after I’d already said to Vanderpump and the rest of the girls, ‘Hey, you know, Erika warned me about you and I should stay away from you.’
“And she said that like you were a sniper or whatever. And so we have this dinner there and we were all great. Everyone got along.”
The Married With Children former said the cast “had a really good time,” but Vanderpump was contacted by a show producer who told her to liven things up.
“Vanderpump got a text saying, ‘This dinner is really boring, make something happen,'” she explained.
“So she showed me and I was like ok let’s go then. Let’s make dinner and get out of here.”
Kathryn told the podcast that the scene they filmed was edited to look more dramatic on TV.
“And the whole conversation was completely different from the way they showed it at the end,” Edwards said.

“There was no one thrown out of the house. We all hugged. And it was great. But they made it look so different.”
