The remains of a pregnant woman have been discovered in the back yard of a house more than 20 years after her murder.
Debbie Griggs, 34, disappeared from her home in Deal, Kent in May 1999.
Her body was never found with husband Andrew Griggs, who was convicted of her murder and jailed for life in October 2019.
Police have now confirmed that her body was discovered in the garden of a house in St Leonards, Dorset.
Monster Griggs moved to the property in July 2001.
Officers were hurled to the house on October 5 after a tip.
They found human remains, including tooth fragments, which an autopsy confirmed belonged to Debbie.
More tests are being conducted to determine how the doted mother-of-three died.
Her devastated sister Wendie Rowlinson opened up about the heartbreaking discovery today.
She said: “In short, two years after he murdered her, he moved and actually took her with him.
“Then she buried them in the backyard.
“PM has definitely confirmed it to her and her unborn (18 weeks) son. Lots of incredibly nasty details.
“But to me the most incredible thing is that he brought her into the new house.
“I really don’t think a killer has ever done that before.”
Debbie was reported missing by Griggs on May 5, 1999 while she was four months pregnant.
He claimed she left the family home angry after he got home from work and fell asleep.
Her white Peugeot 309 was found 1.3 miles from her home in Walmer a few days after she disappeared.
In March 2019, following a cold case review, Griggs, who remarried, was charged with the murder of Debbie.
At his trial, prosecutors argued he killed his wife after she found out he was having an affair with a 15-year-old girl.
Griggs was jailed for life with at least 20 years when Debbie’s three children begged him to show where her body was.
During the sentencing hearing, the judge said it was likely that the avid sailor “threw her body into the sea.”
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Kimber of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: “It has now been more than 20 years since Debbie Griggs was murdered by her husband but we have never given up hope that one day we may find her remains and her loved ones something to give closure.
“Andrew Griggs has denied responsibility for his wife’s disappearance, but this discovery is further evidence that he lied all along, causing even greater distress to everyone who knew and loved Debbie.
“As they continue to mourn their tragic loss to this day, I hope they can find some comfort in knowing that she can now be laid to rest.
“We will continue to keep Debbie’s family informed of the progress of our ongoing investigation and support them during this difficult time.”
