Reinier de Ridder breaks down Kiamrian Abbasov ahead of their clash at ONE: Full Circle

Reinier de Ridder, two-division ONE world champion, will next play ONE welterweight world champion Kiamrian Abbasov. At stake is the ‘Knight of the Netherlands’ middleweight belt, and the 31-year-old has revealed he’s done his homework ahead of his opponent.

In a recent interview, De Ridder revealed his opponent’s skills and tendencies:

“[Abbasov] Switching from attack to wrestling was pretty easy, but he was sometimes a bit overzealous and got knocked down by much smaller guys,” the Combat Brothers representative put it. “He has a good pair of hands, a quick pair of hands. He’s a pretty one-sided boxer, pretty lax in speed, but makes some mistakes in his footwork. He wrestles pretty well but gets knocked down often. So I think I’m dominating from start to finish.”

Reinier de Ridder has been yearning to fight since he won ONE heavyweight and middleweight world title from Aung La N Sang. He beat the former champion in head-to-head matches spanning more than six months in early 2021.

In December, he called Abbasov on his Instagram page. ONE . Weight Class World Champion reply with fire emojishowed that he was interested in mixing it with De Ridder.

Their fight will finally come to fruition at ONE: Full Circle. While it may not be De Ridder’s chance of a third world championship, he will gain his desire to compete with the best by facing fellow world champion in Abbasov .

Reinier de Ridder admires Abbasov’s bravery but confidently stops him

“That’s what I take my hat off. It was a big step for him. He’s a lot shorter than me, so I regret trying,” De Ridder said. “He’s an endurance fighter. He’s an all-round good fighter. I just think I’m on another level, and I’m going to show it. I don’t underestimate him. I see it closely. His technique is very clear. I see he has won hearts. But once I get hold of that neck, I will finish anyone in the world.”

In addition to Abbasov, De Ridder also call out like Alain Ngalani in a Muay Thai fight, Buchecha in a heavyweight MMA clash, and even offered to face both Rodtang and Demetrious Johnson in a two-on-one match.

Turning his attention to the game in progress, De Ridder summarizes why he believes the outcome is inevitable.

“Overall, I am better. I am better in attack,” De Ridder insisted. “I will be able to touch him when I want to. I’m the better wrestler, I’ll take down anyone in the world, and I’ll finish anyone in the world as well.”
