The If Beale Street Could Talk star welcomed Ian, who celebrated his 26th birthday on Wednesday, with her ex-husband, record producer Ian Alexander Sr.
Ian is a DJ and singer-songwriter who has performed under the stage name Desduné and posted on Instagram just three days ago about an upcoming event at Bardot this month.
Just last week, Regina took to Instagram to urge her followers to support her son’s new single, Green Eyes.
In 2011, Regina, who separated from Ian’s father after nine years of marriage in 2007, talked about her “unconditional love” for her son.
She told Perfume at the time: “I’m touched because my son is an amazing young man, and when I became a mother, I realized what an incredible woman she (my mother) is.”
“You don’t know what unconditional love is. You can say yes, but if you don’t have children, you don’t know what it is.
“But when you experience it, it’s the most satisfying thing ever. So that’s the best part of me. Being a mother to Ian.”
The Emmy-winning actress often talks about her close relationship with her son, revealing on The View in 2017 that the pair have matching tattoos.
“We were taking Kabbalah classes,” she said. He said, ‘let’s choose three. [designs] each and without telling each other which one they are and which one is suitable, that’s what we’ll tattoo ‘…
“…and we both chose unconditional love.”

And their appreciation for each other is reciprocal, never more so when Ian paid tribute to his mother on her 50th birthday last year.
On Instagram, he wrote: “Happy birthday my colleague, so proud of you and inspired by your love, art and love!
“To be able to watch you take over this life and make it yours is something I will forever be grateful for.
“But having a mother is the greatest gift I could ask for,” he continued.
“To be all that you are while always having time to be around, to love and support me unconditionally is truly remarkable.
“The entire magical universe does not depend on you, yours [sic] real superhero! Love mom! This day and CHILDREN DAY everyday !! “
Ian regularly accompanies Regina on the red carpet, most notably at the 2019 Golden Globes when he labeled her “super mom”.
Talking to E! News, he said, “She didn’t really let the bad days or anything come back and ruin the time we had.
“It’s really great to have a mom that I can enjoy spending time with.”
