MURDER suspect Katlin Armstrong reportedly displayed a number of troubling warning signs when police officers questioned her about the death of her love rival, according to an affidavit.
The 34-year-old is currently on the run and charged with murder after professional cyclist Moriah Wilson died in Austin, Texas on May 11.
A day later, on May 12, police discovered that Armstrong had an “outstanding Class B warrant,” according to an affidavit obtained by The Daily Beast.
Armstrong was arrested and taken to the Austin Police Department Homicide Office, where she was asked what had happened in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, according to the affidavit, Armstrong was presented with information about Ms Wilson’s death but remained “very quiet” and “guarded” as she spoke to detectives.
She was reportedly confronted with video evidence after a car that appeared to be hers was captured on security footage around the time Moriah was murdered.
Police noted that despite several opportunities to explain themselves, they did not explain why the vehicle was in the area.
It came as police began looking into the love triangle between her, Wilson and Wilson’s pal Colin Strickland – amid claims she may have committed an illegal act out of “jealous rage”.
At the time, she had reportedly been staying in an Austin apartment before attending a race in the area.
Moriah reportedly told a pal she wanted to go swimming with fellow cyclist Colin Strickland, 35.
The pair previously had an affair, while Strickland took a break from his relationship with Armstrong last October.
They remained friends and continued to spend time together.
But the furious yoga teacher didn’t find out about their brief romance until January – and reportedly started “trembling with anger.”
Cops now believe she freaked out after discovering her boyfriend had a secret tryst with his former flame, Moirah, on May 11th.
They said Strickland told Armstrong he wanted to deliver flowers, but his phone’s battery died so he couldn’t reach them.
But he did take a dip with Moriah in the Deep Eddy pool – which police say motivated Armstrong to seek deadly revenge.
According to the affidavit, police later described how Armstrong “rolled his eyes in anger” when the love affair with the sword was later brought up in an interview.
“I have no idea he’s seen this girl or even dated her…recently,” she allegedly told police.
When investigators then asked if she was “upset” — as they tried to explain why the vehicle was in the area at the time — Armstrong began “nodding in agreement.”
The affidavit said Armstrong subsequently asked to leave the interview when the detective alleged that “it was not good to see their vehicle in the area, coupled with statements from Strickland.”
The document states that Armstrong “made no effort to deny what was said and yet provided no explanation as to why their vehicle would be there.”
She has not been seen since the interview.
A warrant for Armstrong’s death was issued May 17 by US Marshals.
On May 19, she was charged with first-degree murder, according to the affidavit.
It came as the affidavit said Strickland was disclosing information about his relationships with Ms Wilson and Armstrong.
“Strickland advised that while he and Ms. Wilson were dating, Armstrong called Ms. Wilson on the phone and told Ms. Wilson that she is the one who is dating Strickland,” the affidavit reads.
Strickland told Detective Spitler he had to change Ms Wilson’s name on his phone so Armstrong wouldn’t know who he was talking to as they continue their relationship.
Strickland admitted he had to change Ms Wilson’s name on his phone because Armstrong had blocked Ms Wilson’s number on Strickland’s phone.
“Strickland also shared that he had to delete text messages on his phone to prevent Armstrong from finding them.”
The affidavit also states that Strickland spoke “very highly” of Ms Wilson during his interview with police.
Strickland is reportedly unaware of Kaitlin Armstrong’s whereabouts.
in one Explanation Speaking to local media, Strickland spoke of “the regret and torture” he felt [his] Proximity to this terrible crime.”
“I’m sorry and I just can’t understand this unfathomable tragedy,” he continued.
“To clarify previously reported facts, Moriah Wilson and I had a brief romantic relationship from late October to early November 2021 that spanned about a week while Ms. Wilson was visiting Austin.
“At the time, she and I had both recently ended our relationship.
“She returned to her home in California and about a month later, Kaitlin Armstrong and I reconciled and resumed our relationship.
Strickland added that he often saw Ms Wilson at cycling events, but claims they maintained a “platonic and professional” relationship.
“Moriah and I were both leaders in this lonely niche sport of cycling and I greatly admired her and considered her a close friend.”
