Record heat is about to begin in 2022, Cold Front expected later this week – CBS Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Near-record highs will heat South Florida this Thursday afternoon and throughout the weekend.
Thursday’s high will warm 83 degrees, just one degree from the record high of 84 set in 2015.

The same record was held on New Year’s Eve Friday and the forecast high for Friday afternoon was 83, again.
The chance of rain remains low for most of the weekend but as the winds are shifting away from the south and southwest, there will be some moisture return to increase humidity in South Florida.
So it’s warm and overcast in early 2022. New Year’s bells on New Year’s Eve will be soft and a bit murky with midnight temperatures of 74 degrees.

On Saturday, the first day of the year remains mostly dry but wet weather with mid-80s highs and a light breeze.
Warm winds will blow over South Florida Sunday from the southwest and out front of the approaching cold front.
The front crossed our area overnight Sunday, then clear skies Monday as cooler air filters come in. This cold front will finally bring to an end the unusually warm period we’ve dealt with this week.
Afternoon temperatures are expected to drop back to the lows and mid-70s on Monday.

Low temperatures will also drop to 50s above and below 60s Tuesday morning.
