REAL MADRID striker Vinicius Junior has revealed his toughest opponent after taking on Chelsea’s Reece James.

After Madrid’s 2-0 win over the Blues in the Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday, during which Vinicius added two more assists, he was asked which defender he found most difficult to play against.

The Brazilian replied: “That must be Araujo who defended me the best. He’s very good and very strong, that’s why he plays for Barca.”

James recently revealed that Vinicius was one of the toughest players he has ever faced.

The respectful mood was clearly mutual, with the Brazilian ace describing James as a difficult opponent.

However, last night’s clash was one to forget for the England right-back.

Premier League veteran Rio Ferdinand claimed Vinicius showed James “no respect” and explained that “Reece needs to take that personally to see where he went wrong”.

Supporters echoed that observation, saying the Chelsea full-back was ‘ripped apart by Vinicius’. While another added: “Vini really owned James”.

Social media fans have also enjoyed the Madrid forward’s cheeky Instagram post, which shows him zooming past James last night with the Chelsea man coming on.

Comments included that the England international had dropped a “stinker on the big stage” and that the tag was “brutal” and “got Reece dirty”.

However, it is understood that the two are on friendly terms and frequently interact online.

Vinicius Jr and James will renew their hostilities next Tuesday when Chelsea host the reigning European champions in the second leg of the round of 16.
