MIAMI (AP) – Rapper Pooh Shiesty has been sentenced to five years and three months in prison for a gun offense in Florida.
According to court documents, Lontrell Williams Jr., 22, was convicted in federal court in Miami on Wednesday. He pleaded guilty in January to conspiring to possess firearms to encourage violent crime and drug trafficking. The Tennessee native faced up to 20 years in prison.
In a plea bargain, prosecutors dropped three charges, including a weapons charge that carried a possible maximum sentence of life in prison. According to court documents, the charges related to three separate incidents.
Williams was in a car in Memphis, Tennessee, in July 2020 when an occupant of the car fired a gun at a gas station, officials said. Three months later, Williams was part of an armed group that shot and wounded two people and stole marijuana, codeine and high-end sneakers from a hotel in the city of Bay Harbor Islands, Fla., authorities said. Finally, Williams shot and wounded a security guard after performing at a Miami strip club in May 2021, prosecutors said.
Pooh Shiesty first garnered attention after collaborating with Gucci Mane and other rappers. Last February, he released his first commercial mixtape, Shiesty Season. It peaked at number 3 on the US Billboard 200.
