Raising Dion season 3 will not take place on Netflix

We’re sorry raise Dion Fans, it looks like the show is over on Netflix. According to one of the show’s stars, Sammi Haney, the series will not be returning for a third season. Haney took to her social media on Tuesday, April 26 to say so raise Dion Season 3 didn’t progress.
It’s important to note that Netflix hasn’t officially confirmed the show’s cancellation yet, but I’m assuming Haney has been given permission to break the news to fans. Haney played Esperanza Jimenez, the best friend of the titular character Dion Warren (Ja’Siah Young) in the series.
Raising Dion will not return in Season 3
Haney broke the news via Instagram and wrote:
“Unfortunately I have to say that Raising Dion is cancelled. Thank you for all the amazing support we’ve received from all of our wonderful fans. Season 2 was a hit, as was Season 1, just looking at how many people watched it all and wanted Season 3!”
The actress continued, adding that the only “silver lining” of this termination notice is that she’s now allowed to take on other roles, as she claims her Netflix contact didn’t allow her to “take other lead roles that were offered.” [her] (1 actually written for me).”
raise Dion premiered in October 2019 and returned for Season 2 in February 2022. In addition to Young and Haney, the series also starred Alisha Wainwright, Jazmyn Simon, Jason Ritter, Griffin Robert Faulkner, and Ali Ahn. Michael B. Jordan also served as executive producer on the series and appeared as scientist Mark Warren.
Raising Dion revolved around Dion after he started manifesting strange abilities. He and his mother, Nicole (Wainwright), must contend with his evolving abilities and the danger that those superhero-like powers bring.
Why was Raising Dion canceled?
It’s not clear why raise Dion was canceled. Haney says the show was just as successful as Season 1, although we can’t confirm that since Netflix now uses different metrics than it did in 2019. Season 2 reportedly had 108.75 million hours of viewing in its first 26 days on the platform .
Our best guess for now is that Netflix didn’t feel the show was doing well enough to give it more seasons, but Netflix has also curated an unfortunate track record of canceling series early in favor of more new shows instead to cultivate older ones.
Does Raising Dion end on a cliffhanger?
Yes, Season 2 ends on a pretty significant cliffhanger and also teases a significant time warp in the end credits scene. Too bad the show was canceled and raise Dion Season 3 will no longer happen (at least from what we know right now).
