RAHEEM STERLING’s future at Manchester City remains uncertain – despite his pivotal role in another title win.

The 27-year-old ace is heading into the final 12 months of his £300,000-a-week contract, having spent the last seven years at the Etihad.

And he plans to start thinking about his future once he finishes serving in England in mid-June.

Sterling’s biggest concern is that he will continue to play regularly after losing his place on the team earlier in the season.

While he regained it in the winter, he was on the bench for both games against Real Madrid in the Champions League and the final two games of the season.

And he will be concerned that the summer arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez will make the competition for places in Pep Guardiola’s squad even fiercer.

Sterling came off the bench on Sunday and it was his superb cross for Ilkay Gundogan that sparked the dramatic fight after falling 2-0 at Aston Villa, which secured City the title with a 3-2 win.

He missed Monday’s party parade in Manchester for family reasons but was nevertheless announced on stage as one of their champions.

When asked about his contract situation last month, he said: “Right now I’m just happy to play, happy to contribute to the team.

“I think that’s the most important thing. At this point I think it would be selfish of me to speak of any contractual situation.

“I’m just happy to play football and see where we are at the end of the season.”

In the past he has made no secret of wanting to play in Spain at some point in his career.

Real Madrid and Barcelona will certainly be watching his situation with interest – knowing he will be a free agent next summer as things stand.
