Radioactive Capsule FOUND in Outback Oz in a ‘needle in a haystack’ wonder after a deadly rice-sized object went missing

A “TINY but potentially deadly” radioactive capsule has been recovered in the Australian outback, which emergency services have described as an “extraordinary” find.
The loss of the tiny capsule, just 6mm wide and 8mm high, triggered an unprecedented public safety alert covering a 1,400 km area in Western Australia.

It was reportedly found about 50km south of the town of Newman on Wednesday.
Western Australia Ambulance Services Minister Stephen Dawson said at a press conference: “I would like to stress that this is an exceptional result.
“The search parties literally found a needle in a haystack.”
An urgent public alert was issued last week after the tiny cesium-137 capsule was reported missing on January 25.
It reportedly fell off a truck while being transported to the city of Perth from a mine in Rio Tinto.
The highly radioactive material used for mining equipment disappeared sometime between January 11th and 16th.
Experts warn that improper handling can lead to dangerously high doses of radiation.
In an extraordinary press conference on Friday, Western Australians were told the deadly material could be located anywhere between Perth and the Pilbara, a combined distance of around 1,400km.
Andy Robertson, the state’s chief health officer, said the capsule was lost while being transported between a mining site north of Newman and the Malaga suburb of Perth.
It was recovered by a team from the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization working with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
