QUEEN frontman Adam Lambert has backed Adele’s decision to postpone her concerts in Las Vegas, saying her fans “deserve better” than an unfinished show.
Adam, who is currently appearing as a judge on ITV talent show Starstruck, says he found the superstar’s tearful announcement on Instagram “heart-wrenching”.
While he is best known for performing hits such as The Show Must Go On, he insisted that Adele was right to push back the long-awaited shows.
Adam said: “Adele is so honest and vulnerable, so the video was hard to watch.
“Any artist who has toured understands that sometimes certain things are out of your control.
“She accidentally got into a situation where the show just wasn’t ready.”
Adam added: “I feel, as I’m sure Adele does, that the fans and their experience is what the show is for.
“If the artist is not comfortable with what they are putting out on stage then that affects what the audience gets as well.
“Especially as a solo artist, because it’s all about that person.
“It has to be right, or else it is not going to be what the audience deserves. I’m sure she is doing her best to get it back on track, and everyone will see a great show.”
The US singer has proved a hit with TV fans on Starstruck, which kicked off earlier this month.
Hosted by Olly Murs, the show features teams of wannabes performing as their singing idols for judges Adam, Sheridan Smith, Jason Manford and Beverley Knight.
And Adam, who says he was determined to bring his “queer American sense of camp” to the panel, told how he and Olly really hit it off backstage.
He said: “He did X Factor in 2009 when I was doing American Idol. We’ve both gone through that system and could compare notes.
“He’s such a nice guy, and he’s great as a host. So it was a nice bonding experience. We were swapping stories about Simon Cowell.”
Adam, who has performed alongside Queen legends Brian May and Roger Taylor for more than ten years, says he is desperate to tour again this summer.
He is also working on songs for his own musical, which will feature on a concept album.
Adam said: “It’s been interesting writing songs for somebody else’s story, and it takes some of the pressure off.
“So much of the industry is about: ‘How do I connect with the people? How do I create a brand?’ But there is something more pure about this.
“Your product needs to sell and get streams. But on my last album, Velvet, I worked really hard to separate myself from that.
“I think this musical is the next step in that direction.”
GIGS MAY BE BACK ON THIS SUMMER
CAESAR’S Palace bosses are in talks with Adele to re-arrange her concerts for the summer, sources say.
The Colosseum is booked out until June 18 with performances by Keith Urban, the first of two blocks of gigs by Rod Steward and a series of concerts by Sting.
But there is a gap between Sting’s last gig on June 18 and the first of Rod’s second block on September 23.
And while Adele is already scheduled to perform at British Summer Time on July 1 and 2, Caesar’s are hoping she will return to Vegas immediately after the gigs.
One said: “That is the scheduling that would make the most sense.
“Talks are ongoing at the moment, and the hope is that Adele’s rearranged dates will be agreed very soon.
“She has made it clear that next year is not an option, and everyone is keen to lock the dates in.”

As well as bagging himself a top Hollywood agent, Gina Rodriguez, The Netflix doc star is determined to become a star in Tinseltown.
A source said: “Simon clearly has no shame or no concern for what the Netflix series did to him.
“He sees it as an opportunity to use that fame and Gina is the right person to guide him on that journey.
“He’d love to land a big glitzy show like Dancing With The Stars.”
He has already started peddling his own PR spin in America.
He bleated: “I’m not a fraud and I’m not a fake. People don’t know me – so they cannot judge me.”
Try telling that to the women he duped . . .
HARRY’S 5M UP
HARRY STYLES’ fortune has continued to rocket after leaving One Direction, with one of his firms seeing its assets soar by £5million.
The boost to Erskine Touring comes despite Harry not being able to play live for almost two years during the pandemic.
His company had £9.4million in assets at the end of March last year, up from £4.4million the year before, accounts reveal.
That figure is set to soar next year when he hits the road with his Love On Tour dates and the likely release of a new album.
Earlier this month it was revealed Harry’s firm HSA Publishing made £2million, driven by a rise of nearly £1million in investments made by the star.
His other company, Erskine Records, will file accounts later this year.
DANCING On Ice star Stef Reid has revealed her husband is such a fan of her sexy looks on the ice that he has begged her to bring them home.
Paralympian Stef, who is married to Canadian wheelchair racer Brent Lakatos, said Brent was particularly taken with her Dirty Dancing-themed outfit in week two.
And she said she is also having a great time embracing her sexy side on the show.
Stef, who is paired with pro-skater Andy Buchanan, said: “Brent did tell me to hang on to the blonde wig after I skated as Baby from Dirty Dancing. I said: ‘I’m sorry babe, but I can’t.’
“You know what, though? He is that guy where I’ll always Zoom him before, send him a photo of me in my outfit, like, ‘Hey, check me out!’ And his response is always, ‘You look stunning – but I still prefer you without make-up!’ ”
Stef went on: “I do love the outfits. I mean, from now on, all of my competition uniforms are going to have to be bedazzled. I’m not going back now.
“It’s been one of the best parts every Sunday, to be able to explore those different sides of me and just, I guess, surprise myself in some way with what comes out and what’s in there.
“Sometimes it’s fun to do something a bit sexier, to say there are more sides to me than perhaps what people have seen.”
AITCH’S BED OF ROSES
RAPPER Aitch is going back to his Northern roots and sampling The Stone Roses in his upcoming single.
The rising star is using the indie-dance group’s 1989 anthem Fools Gold on his next track, which shares the same name.
We also hear that the Roses’ frontman Ian Brown is making a cameo in his fellow Mancunian’s video.
A music source said: “Aitch and Ian are both proud Northerners and Ian is chuffed the young star will educate a new generation about his music.
“It’s a massive coup that Ian wants to be involved on film too.
“Aitch is definitely putting his own unique stamp on the track and it’s set to be a banger.”
TAYLOR AND JOE IN RING RIDDLE
THE rumour mill is spinning with speculation that Taylor Swift is engaged to boyfriend Joe Alwyn after five years together.
A US magazine is reporting that “multiple sources” have confirmed the loved-up pair’s engagement after their New Year’s visit to St Ives in Cornwall.
It comes after the superstar – who rarely talks about her love life – touchingly paid tribute to her boyfriend at last year’s Grammy Awards ceremony.
Collecting her Album of the Year gong for Folklore, she gushed about: “Joe, the first person that I sing every single song that I write (to).”
And she added that she had “so much fun writing songs in quarantine” with him.
Mary Queen Of Scots actor Joe wrote lyrics on Taylor’s tracks Betty, Exile and Champagne Problems, credited to pseudonym William Bowery.
And in her Disney+ documentary The Long Pond Studio Sessions, Taylor said: “I was like, ‘Hey, this could be really weird and we could hate this – because we’re in quarantine and there’s nothing else going on, could we just try to write this song together?’”
Last night Taylor’s representatives on both sides of the Pond refused to respond to speculation around her engagement.
Let’s hope if he has proposed, Joe has forked out for more than a Paper Ring.
HARRY and Jamie Redknapp are joining forces to film a three-part travelogue in Qatar ahead of fans heading to the World Cup there later this year.
It’s bound to be hilarious, as it’s produced by comic pal Jack Whitehall’s TV company Jackpot Productions.
A telly source said: “The father and son duo will get to know the local culture in Qatar before footie fans invade en masse later this year.
“They’re up for having a laugh and sending themselves up.”
PREGNANT RIHANNA: I FEEL SEXY
MUM-to-be Rihanna has been giving her baby bump maximum exposure since she announced her pregnancy with ASAP Rocky this year.
Opening up about her maternity fashion this week, she told how she is determined to push the idea that pregnant women can be sexy.
And the singer says she has felt more confident since finding out she was expecting, admitting: “My boobs have been growing by the week.”
She added: “When women get pregnant, society tends to make it feel like you hide, hide your sexy, and that you’re not sexy right now (but) you’ll get back there and I don’t believe in that sh*t.
“So I’m trying stuff that I might not have even had the confidence to try before I was pregnant. The strappiest, the thinnest and the more cut-outs the better for me.”
Good for Rih for standing up for pregnant women everywhere.
But will those sexy outfits give way to comfy hoodies and old pyjama bottoms as her ninth month beckons?
