Quebec adds 692 cases of COVID-19, 2 deaths due to increasing hospitalization

Quebec added 692 cases COVID-19 and two new deaths on Monday as the health crisis continues.
To date, Quebec has counted 439,763 infections and 421,879 recoveries, bringing the number of active cases to 6,324.
Of the new cases reported Monday, 398 were among those who had not been vaccinated or had not been two weeks off their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The number of pandemic-related hospitalizations increased by five in the past day, with 13 newly admitted and eight discharged patients, for a total of 204. Of those, 46 were in the ICU.
The latest figures provided by the health ministry show that unvaccinated people are 16.7 times more likely to be hospitalized with the virus than those who are fully vaccinated.
Quebec is expected to release details of its immunization plan for children between the ages of 5 and 11 on Tuesday.
Health Minister Christian Dubé said the goal was to have a shot before Christmas in that age group.
Meanwhile, today the province has opened a booster appointment for Quebec patients from 70 to 74 years old, one day ahead of schedule.
On Thursday, Quebe Cancer people who received two doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine will be able to book appointments with the booster.
To date, 13.4 million doses have been administered in Quebec, including 3,582 in the last 24 hours.
The death toll from the virus is now 11,560.
