Punter refuses a £95,000 quadruple payout for Liverpool before Man City’s late comeback denied them the Premier League title

A LOYAL Liverpool fan turned down a huge £95,000 payout offer on a quadruple accumulator bet ahead of Manchester City’s dramatic title comeback.
With £367,000 at stake, Liverpudlian Tanya Hanley stuck to her £100 pre-season bet – only to watch City’s later 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa lift the crown by a point.

The payout had grown since Liverpool won the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup – both thanks to nerve-wracking gunfights.
And with just under 15 minutes of the Prem season left, Tanya must have thought the Reds would pull off another tense last-second triumph – ahead of next Saturday’s Champions League final.
Villa led 2-0 at Etihad and Liverpool were 1-1 at Anfield with Wolves but upped the pressure.
A win for Jürgen Klopp’s men and anything but a City win would have dethroned Pep Guardiola’s men.

Instead, Ilkay Gundogan scored twice shortly after coming on, Rodri scoring the other as City won a 3-2 thriller.
Liverpool grabbed their own late double for a 3-1 win – but in vain.
Betfair tweeted: “At 5.34pm on Sunday, Tanya from Liverpool looked at a £95,000 withdrawal offer from a pre-season bet of £100.
“She just believed that Man City would make a stunning comeback at the Etihad.”

Tanya could have pocketed £32,492 on her 3,671-1 bet had she been extremely cautious and cashed out after February’s Carabao Cup joy.
That early payout fluctuated, falling to just under £5,000 last weekend as City beat Wolves 5-1.
And although Tanya’s proud attitude ended up costing her, Liverpool fans could applaud her for putting her all on Reds.
