PSG are three points clear in Ligue 1 and unbeaten all season.

Neymar deflected a low cross from strike partner Mbappé just before half-time after Marseille keeper Pau Lopez regularly slowed down Christophe Galtier’s men.

PSG were then forced onto the back foot – until Gigot’s shameful exit in the 72nd minute.

The home side bombarded the Marseille goal early on.

The fit Lionel Messi forced Lopez to make two low saves within the first five minutes and Achraf Hakimi was also denied by the Spanish stopper.

Marseille regained his composure but Lopez was his hero again, blocking after Neymar’s quick counterattack from Mbappe.

And finally, after sloppy Marseille play, Marco Verratti intervened to reassure Mbappe, who fed Mbappe for a quiet, low opener

However, the visitors dominated the early stages of the second period, led by Chancel Mbemba’s forward thrusts.

But Marseille didn’t create clear chances as they were lacking at the top.

And PSG appeared to be more comfortable at the back as defender Gigot senselessly and brutally took down Neymar and received a direct red card.

A weary Marseille faded afterwards as PSG recorded nine wins in 11 unbeaten Ligue 1 games this season.
