FRED is a shock name on Paris Saint-Germain’s hit list – despite Manchester United extending his contract by 12 months.
The Brazilian’s current deal was due to expire next summer and the club acted earlier this week to prevent him from going on a free transfer.
But that hasn’t deterred the French giants, who are longtime admirers and want him to bolster their engine room.
United wouldn’t consider a deal for less than £30m but that fee certainly won’t deter mega-rich PSG.
And the chance to join fellow internationals Neymar and Marquinhos in the French capital will certainly appeal to a man who has struggled to nab a regular place at Old Trafford.
United boss Erik ten Hag remains a big fan of Fred and has been impressed with his attitude despite limited starts.
Still, the midfielder has waged a constant battle to earn a place among various Old Trafford managers since signing from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 for £54million.
Fred had hoped the summer arrival of Real Madrid’s Brazilian team-mate Casemiro in a £70m deal would push them to anchor midfield as they regularly do for their country.
But Ten Hag has paired Casemiro with Christian Eriksen and Fred has made just four Premier League starts this season.
Turning 30 in March, he knows he will have better chances of regular starts at PSG than he did previously in signing United midfielders.

They followed a similar path three years ago to sign Spain’s Ander Herrera on a free transfer once his contract expired.
United have acted quickly to ensure they can at least charge a fee should Fred decide he wants out – but the asking price certainly won’t deter the French champions.
They’ve also just triggered similar 12-month extensions for Marcus Rashford, Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw, who are yet to commit to new deals.
PSG have a long-standing interest in Rashford and president Nasser Al-Khelaifi openly admits he would love to sign him.
But while United would be open to deals with Fred at the right price, they have no intention of losing a striker Ten Hag sees as a key man in his rebuilding plans.
