THERE is a way to conserve battery life on your Play Station 5 joypad game controller.

Many people are unaware of the trick as the PS5 joypad stays on automatically causing it to lose power quickly.

The trick was shared by IGN as part of its hidden gaming features and settings.

“By default, your controller is set to never turn off even when idle, but you can change that,” IGN said.

Here’s a breakdown of how to put your controller on an idle timer to save battery, according to IGN.

First select “Settings” on the home screen.

Second, go to System > Energy Saver.

Third, change the controller idle time to 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or 60 minutes – whichever you prefer.

Tech expert Ben Rowlands (@benrowlands.uk) has shared little-known PS5 shortcuts that can enhance your gaming experience.

  1. Double tap the PS button in the center of the controller for easy access to your microphone settings.
  2. You can start a game faster by running it from the activity bar.
  3. While in sleep mode, long-pressing your console’s power button will shut down the console completely without erasing important data.
  4. Long-pressing the PS button on your controller will mute your TV and also your headsets.

Gaming expert Mystic (@Mysticryan) has unveiled another hidden PS5 button that will help you get a better overview of all your trophies.

The hidden button can be found in the PS5 Trophies section. Then click the Options button while hovering over a game.

To set the feature, go to the “Show All” toggle and turn it on.

You can now just use one toggle for a game’s entire trophy list instead of checking each individual hidden trophy to see its name and criteria.
