The PS4 added a dedicated ‘share’ button, so it’s easier to show your friends your cool screenshots and videos. Unfortunately, it’s still pretty tough to actually get the picture out of your dashboard and onto your phone or computer. Above PS5 The feature is now renamed to the ‘create’ button, but it works the same and the same problems persist – you have to upload the photos to Twitter or transfer them via a USB drive. Until now.
The future is finally here, and PlayStation has started rolling out a new feature automatically upload your screenshots from PS5 straight to your mobile phone. Here’s how to do it.
How to use PS5 create button to take screenshot
Simply press create button on the left side of your DualSense trackpad will enable it. You can customize it if you go to Settings > Capture & Broadcast > Capture. Here you can change your shortcuts To actually take a screenshot is a quick and easy process. I have it set up so that a single tap takes a screenshot, a two tap records a video, and a long press brings up the creation controls.
Here you can adjust the length of time you want for each video clip, and also disable the annoying pop-up that confirms when you’ve taken a screenshot – it’s hard when you want to capture multiple videos in a row. go ahead and there is a big icon in the corner that spoils your photo. You can also change your preferred file format for pictures and videos.
How to automatically upload PS5 screenshots to your phone
Now that you know how to take screenshots, you’ll want to get them onto your phone as quickly as possible. In the past, you had to go to your Media Library and send photos to Twitter, OneDrive, or somewhere else in a slow and laborious process. Now, PlayStation is rolling out an update that will automatically upload photos straight to PlayStation app on your smartphone.
Enter Media Library app on your PS5 and – if the update has reached your console – you’ll get a pop-up asking if you’d like to enable auto-upload. Just click ‘enable auto-upload’ and you are ready. So far the feature has only been seen in the US, but other regions should see it soon.
Just keep in mind, the image will only stay on your app for 14 daysand video clips will have to be under three minutes long, so go back to those creation settings and adjust accordingly. Don’t panic if you haven’t seen the pop-up yet. Features like this are introduced to regions slowly, so just be patient and you’ll see it eventually.
