Proud Brits burn a HUGE amount of calories every day

HOUSEPROUD Adults burn a whopping 2,690 calories a week, which equates to 139,898 calories a year, just by cleaning their homes.

The study of 2,000 adults who cleaned more than once a week found they spent a total of 30 hours a year ironing — that’s more than a full day, which burns 9,277 calories.

And while gardening might be considered less rigorous housework, adults lose 142 calories in the 38 minutes they spend digging in the ground each week.

Vacuuming is also good exercise, as adults do this task four times a week, burning up to 8,747 calories each year.

But in addition to shedding pounds, 60 percent believe brushing has other benefits – they find it a great way to de-stress after work and unwind from a busy day.

Another 59 percent think it helps them lead healthier lifestyles, as clean kitchens mean fewer food stalls.

Even lighter tasks like wiping down your kitchen counters and dusting your lamps can help burn off those extra calories

1. Mowing the lawn/gardening – 38.1 minutes = 142 calories burned
2. Wash and dry – 36.4 minutes = 186 calories burned
3. Ironing – 35.4 minutes = 180 calories burned
4. Vacuuming – 33.4 minutes = 170 calories burned
5. Clean up – 32.2 minutes = 164 calories burned
6. Cleaning the bathroom – 32.2 minutes = 164 calories burned
7. Load dishwasher / unload dishwasher – 29.3 minutes = 149 calories burned
8. Clean kitchen surfaces – 28.5 minutes = 145 calories burned
9. Fold clean laundry / put clean laundry away – 28.5 minutes = 145 calories burned
10. Window cleaning – 26.8 minutes = 137 calories burned
11. Clean Oven – 27.2 minutes = 139 calories burned
12. Dusting/polishing furniture – 27.1 minutes = 138 calories burned
13. Making bed / stripping bed – 27.2 minutes = 139 calories burned

15. Organize closets and drawers – 25.2 minutes = 128 calories burned

The few homeowners who clean their homes regularly say it makes them feel happier (77 percent), with more than half saying they enjoy cleaning their homes.

But that’s not all. A regular cleaning schedule seemed to help people implement a good sleep routine, a healthy diet routine, and a decent fitness routine.

Brooke Marchand, a coach at behavior change company Noom, which commissioned the study, said: “The number of calories you can burn while cleansing certainly adds up and can be a valuable way to get your body moving every day.

“If you like a clean and quiet home but don’t feel like exercising, then a bit of housework might be a healthy habit for you, as it can be a full-body workout reaching for dusty corners or high shelves.

“When we clean our home, it helps improve our mood — and when we’re in a good mood, it can have a big impact on factors like our diet, our motivation to exercise and how often we go outside for.” fresh air.

Try these four expert tips to breathe new life into your routine

1. Brush up on your routine

The results show that a third of people sweat when cleaning the windows, cleaning the bathroom and making and stripping the bed, while one in four say their muscles hurt after mowing the lawn.

Gardening, vacuuming and tidying were the most popular tasks according to the OnePoll study, while cleaning the oven, ironing and putting away clean laundry were the least popular according to the study.

“Results show that a regular cleaning schedule can help Brits develop healthy habits in other aspects of their lives, helping to improve their overall well-being and mindset.
