The officer was arrested and suspended from her Category A job at HMP Belmarsh.

A source said: “This is extremely serious.

“It is alleged that she provided a false alibi to try to prove his innocence in court.

“The allegations are truly shocking.” The murder trial involved the shooting death of a man in London in November 2019.

But the officer and the accused are said to have been in contact at Belmarsh in Thamesmead, south-east London.

The men’s prison is home to some of the country’s most dangerous criminals, including terrorists and crime lords.

The police checked the further contact circle of the officer.

A new attempt is planned towards the end of next year.
