Prison officer arrested in Britain’s toughest prison for ‘providing a false alibi to a murder suspect’

A PRISON officer at Britain’s toughest prison has been arrested for allegedly providing a false alibi to a murder suspect.
Their lies are said to have been fabricated to help a defendant in court for allegedly shooting a man in the head.

When they were exposed, the process collapsed, wasting at least £100,000 in taxpayers’ money.
The officer was arrested and suspended from her Category A job at HMP Belmarsh.
A source said: “This is extremely serious.
“It is alleged that she provided a false alibi to try to prove his innocence in court.
“The allegations are truly shocking.” The murder trial involved the shooting death of a man in London in November 2019.
But the officer and the accused are said to have been in contact at Belmarsh in Thamesmead, south-east London.
The men’s prison is home to some of the country’s most dangerous criminals, including terrorists and crime lords.
The police checked the further contact circle of the officer.
A new attempt is planned towards the end of next year.
