PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Dak Prescott hit the top five touchdown passes of his career against the backs of the Philadelphia Eagles, Cedrick Wilson and Dalton Schultz, each with two goals, and the Dallas Cowboys kept their hopes up. 2 seed in the NFC knockout with a 51-26 win on Saturday night.
The Cowboys still have seeds to play against the Eagles that have given Jalen Hurts and other key starters a break ahead of next week’s NFC wild card game.
The NFC Cowboys champions (12-5) need to lose Sunday to defending Super Bowl champions Tampa Bay against Carolina in last place and also let the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals lose to claim the No. 2 seed. There is also a path to the 3rd seed for Dallas.
The Cowboys couldn’t finish worse than the fourth seed. The Eagles (9-8) could still be the sixth seed.
Prescott stayed in the game until the fourth quarter, the lead seemed to increase with each throw and so perhaps the injury risk for QB almost 15 months after a season-ending right ankle fracture his 2020 prize.
Prescott tried his best to get a regular foul for at least 400 yards in a 6-1 comeback warm-up on the way to the knockout stages after a two-year absence. He’s 21 of 27 for 295 yards and has no interception.
He came out unscathed – and with the Cowboys record for touchdown pass in a season with 37. Tony Romo threw 36 in 2007. Prescott threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Corey Clement early in the fourth half to make it 37-20 and make the mark and, mercy the Eagles. , help him out of the game.
Of course, Prescott already has his record in the 17th game this season.
Staying sharp, accumulating points and, yes, attacking an NFC East obnoxious opponent are all essentials for the Cowboys.
But, just as both sides’ records kept falling, victory came with a slight shrug. With nothing left to play, the Eagles treated the game like a pre-season finale. The shots, with 3,144 yards passing and a high speed of 784 yards by his teammates, ended the night. So solved the issue with Lane Johnson, full-back Darius Slay and 11 other players on the reserve/COVID-19 roster.
Gardner Minshew started for Hurts and – at least one drive – again Minshew Mania when he threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Tyree Jackson on the opening line. It was the first shot of Jackson’s career.
The score generates an “EAGLES!” cheers from fans filled the streets at the Flyers game after the replay was shown on the big screen.
Philadelphia didn’t give anyone wearing a blue shirt much of a reason to cheer and cheer for the rest of the game.
Prescott sucked all the energy out of the stadium early. He hit Wilson to win back TD at 14 and 24 yards in the first half and then connected with Schultz twice in the final 1:45 time of the half to take a 30-17 lead. Schultz has become only the fifth player since 2000 to catch two touchdown passes in the last 2 minutes of the first half.
Originally a sparse crowd because of low stakes and lower temperatures, Eagles fans ran to get out at round.
