What happens next with Scotland vs Ukraine postponed?

A new date is currently being discussed, which all parties can agree on.

The most likely timing is expected to be in the UEFA Nations League window, which takes place in June 2022.

However, Steve Clarke has considered the possibility that the game may not take place until September given the unfolding conflict in Ukraine.

He said, “It is [a further delay] looks more and more likely given the situation on the ground?

“If you’re honest about the situation, then yes.

“It’s hard to predict how we’re going to play against them in June. It’s not just about mounting.

“It’s the fact that they have to come together, have a training camp and put players on the pitch with a reasonable amount of time to prepare for such an important game.

“Andriy Shevchenko, who I know from my time at Chelsea, spoke well about the situation and said they want to play.

“But the way the situation is, I think they should be given as much time as possible to try and make our game a reality.

“It’s a terrible situation and the sooner we know we’re playing Ukraine in Hampden the better because that means the war has stopped and we’re all trying to move forward.”

Are there more World Cup qualifying playoffs?

Yes. Asia has a World Cup play-off between the third-placed teams in each of their two qualifying groups.

The winner qualifies for the Interconfederation Playoffs.

Australia have been confirmed as one of the teams taking part in the game, which will be played at a neutral venue to be determined.

The play-offs between the confederations will be played in a single leg in Qatar.

The games will take place in June and are as follows:

  • Asia play-off winner vs South America fifth
  • Fourth place North America vs. winner Oceania

Africa has also instituted its own World Cup play-offs, in which the ten group winners play in two games.

Away goals count double for these games.
