Police have launched a murder investigation into a 21-year-old woman who disappeared a week ago.
Chloe Mitchell, from Ballymena, Co Antrim, was last seen on CCTV in the town center in the early hours of last Saturday morning.

Detectives from the Police Service’s Major Investigation Team announced this evening that they have opened a murder investigation following the discovery of suspected human remains in Ballymena.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Millar said: “Regrettably, investigators today recovered what are believed to be human remains in Ballymena and while there has been no formal identification, we have now opened a murder investigation into the circumstances of the 21-year-old’s disappearance.”Mitchell, who was a high-risk missing person.

“Our thoughts are wholeheartedly with Chloe’s family tonight and we have specialized officials to support them at this heartbreaking time.”

“Two men, aged 26 and 34, remain in police custody and are assisting the police in their investigation. More details will follow in due course.”

A flat in the James Street area of Ballymena has been cordoned off and officers are investigating.
