Footage on Twitter shows people leaving the famous square as crowds gather behind barriers erected at the entrances.

Just two weeks ago, police officers evacuated Trafalgar Square after a “suspicious vehicle” was spotted in the tourist hotspot.

Horrified onlookers said they heard a “massive explosion” shortly after police warned people to stay away from the area.

Met Police confirmed they were called to the scene just after 9:20 a.m. after a “suspicious vehicle” was spotted in the area, stressing that the incident had nothing to do with terrorism.
