CONNELLSVILLE (KDKA) – The Connellsville Area School District and its bus company are responding to an unusual incident.
Some parents were angry that a district bus driver refused to continue on his route. The company said a district bus driver did the right thing.

“You could hear the kids screaming, ‘Help me, he won’t let us go,’ parent Erica Umensetter said.
Umensetter described the scene on Thursday as parents boarded buses to catch their children after the driver refused to complete his route and refused to let them off.
“There have been a couple of parents there trying to break down the door, trying to break the door to get these kids out,” Umensetter said.

Some children say the driver threatened them and turned the temperature on. However, none of those claims have been proven.
On Friday, both the county and the bus company released statements. TA Nelson Bus Lines said in part:
“The driver called the dispatch regarding unruly children on the bus. The driver was instructed to pull over the bus to a safe location and wait for the school representative to arrive. Drivers were instructed to pull over to a safe location and wait for a school representative to arrive.”
A parent who was at the scene with a child on the bus told KDKA-TV that even before the bus left West Crawford Elementary School, the behavior of some students forced a school employee onto the bus. and talked to some students. The mother also said that her daughter did not like to ride the bus because of the behavior of some students.

The bus company said it did not release the driver’s name and recorded a video with audio. The investigation is ongoing.
