Tom Holland is trading his Spidey suit for some high heels. The “Spider-Man” star told the Associated Press Sunday that he plans to play Fred Astaire in an upcoming biopic.
“Oh, I’m playing Fred Astaire,” Holland said at an event in London. “Right.”
Producer Amy Pascal recently said she wants Holland to play Astaire, but Holland has yet to comment on the possibility as of now.
While Holland’s dance background isn’t necessarily highlighted in his superhero movies, the 25-year-old starred in “Billy Elliott: The Musical” from 2008 to 2010. .
Holland said he still needs to read the Astaire script, which came out a week ago.
“I haven’t read it yet. They didn’t give it to me,” Holland added. “Amy Pascal has a script. She FaceTimed me earlier. I was in the tub and we had a lovely FaceTime. ”
But before stepping into Astaire’s place, Holland has another Spider-Man movie for the public to see around the world: “No Way Home,” which hits theaters on December 17. Whether there’s more Peter Parker in the future or not. still have to wait and see.
Tom Holland and Zendaya have had mixed reactions on social media after it was announced that Sony and Disney’s Marvel Studios had reached an agreement that would allow Tom’s “Spider-Man” to stay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“I love this character more than anything. This character changed my life. I have a great relationship with my fans. I couldn’t have asked for it to be any better,” said Holland.
“But I wanted to do what was best for the character. If it’s time for me to step down and the next person to step up, I will do so proudly. You know, I’d love to see a more diverse Spider-Man universe, which would be really interesting. If I can be a part of that – if I can be Iron Man for Spider-Man or the next young Spider-Man, that would be great. But for now, all I have to think about is the character and what’s best for Peter Parker,” he said.
