PlatinumGames CEO Kenichi Sato has resigned

Sato will be succeeded by vice president and main producer Atsushi Inaba.


PlatinumGames President and CEO Kenichi Sato has resigned. Sato has held the position since April 2016 but left the role late last year.

“At the end of December 2021, I step down as president of PlatinumGames and my successor is [Atsushi] Inaba,” Sato wrote in a statement posted on Platinum’s website. “We now need to accelerate our efforts to create new games that only PlatinumGames can create and I have decided that the best way to do this is to hand over the presidency to Inaba, who has served as the studio director of PlatinumGames for many years and has demonstrated his skill in the creative side of the game. “

Sato will continue to provide his insight as a consultant.

Atsushi Inaba was previously Platinum’s vice president and chief game developer. Prior to PlatinumGames, he worked with Capcom as the CEO of Clover Studio, which is best known for creating observant Joes and Okamis. Inaba has held the position of head of production for the development division since PlatinumGames was founded in 2007.
