It is reported that the aircraft was a Cessna 172M.

The plane crashed just after 18:00, it is not known how close to the camp the plane crashed at that time.

All three people were transported to nearby trauma centers.

“At this time, rescue workers are at the scene of a small plane that appears to have crashed near Morgan Mill Rd in our county,” Kevin Shook, Transylvania County Communications Director, told The Sun.

“They are still working on the scene and no further details are available at this time.”

A press release from David and Anne Trufant, directors of the camp, said no campers were injured or present at the time of the crash.

“These were camp parents who flew over the camps and allegedly took photos,” the statement obtained by The Sun said.

“When camp staff arrived to help, the first thing they said was, ‘The plane stopped responding’ and they crashed in a wooded area.”
