‘Pittsburgh Elite’ Teams Compete in the NFL Chess Tournament in Las Vegas – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH / LAS VEGAS (KDKA) – This weekend, four American football teams have the opportunity to make something special in Las Vegas.
They are called the Pittsburgh Elite, and they have the opportunity to do something elite.

“It was a dream in the making. I think about the Pittsburgh Elite thing 6 years ago. It started with a team, and now it’s blossomed,” said Eric Cooper, founder of the league.
It has blossomed as the 9-year-olds, 11-year-olds, 12-year-olds and 13-year-olds all compete for the NFL Flag Bowl championship this Saturday in Vegas.
One of the team’s nine-year-old players, Tayon Mitchell, said, “it’s amazing, it’s going to be the best thing of my life.”
Only 12 teams in each division were invited to play in the NFL’s Downside.

“Our kids feel like stars. You have to earn it and work hard all year long,” said 11U coach Rashad Colvin.
Pittsburgh Elite is trying to bring four NFL flag football championships back to Pittsburgh.
“This is a city of champions and we will try to add football bling to everything else,” said Mr Copper.
NFL Flag Rugby takes place Saturday in Las Vegas.
Championship for ages 8-14.
