Peter Dettmer extradited from Ecuador, on $1 million bond, faces 126 sexual assault charges – CBS Denver

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – Tuesday, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed sexual assault suspect Peter Robert Dettmer, 69, was successfully extradited from Ecuador last week. Dettmer is being held at the Jefferson County Jail with $1 million in cash.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, Dettmer was returned to the state on November 24 and now faces 126 sexual assault charges stemming from a 2016 case in Golden. Dettmer is arrested in Cueneca, Ecuador in April after many years on the run.

Dettmer faces the following charges:
- 63 counts of Sexual assault – Helpless victim (F3 felony)
- 1 sexual assault – Victim incapacitated by force/drug/other (F3 felony)
- 62 counts Sexual assault – Incapable victim (F4 felony)
Dettmer’s extradition was made by the FBI with support from the US Department of Defense, the US Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs, and the US State Department. This is the second extradition from Ecuador to the US in 27 years.
Dettmer has a trial scheduled in First District Court for the Judicial District on December 1. The district attorney’s office is not expected to release new information until the case is closed, according to a statement. guidelines under the Colorado Code of Professional Conduct.
