Pete Davidson took on Kanye West in a nasty feud to “not look like a pushover” after “heavy bullying” during his rough childhood.

PETE Davidson decided to take on Kanye West in their ugly feud over Kim Kardashian because he’s “tired of being a pushover for bullies,” the comedian’s childhood friends claim.

The 28-year-old SNL star has started hitting back after facing jealous and increasingly violent slurs from the rapper, who is furious over his ex-wife dating the younger man.

In a shocking music video for Ye’s new song, released just hours after Kim, 41, was declared legal as a single in court, a claymation replica of Kanye kidnaps a Pete-like character and then reveals his decapitated head.

It was just one of a series of brutal insults and stunts that culminated in the 44-year-old rapper finally being booted from Instagram for 24 hours.

Pete’s acquaintances told The Sun in exclusive interviews that it came as no surprise when the star initially shrugged off the rant.

“Kanye cursed him and he just turned the other cheek. It wasn’t a surprise. Poor Pete has been bullied since he was a kid,” said a longtime pal.

But on March 14, a shocked Ye complained that he had received a text message from “the friend” boasting about “being in bed with my wife.”

Johnny Potenza provided The Sun with pictures of Pete aged 16 on a TV show, Late Night with Johnny P, which he hosts in New York’s Staten Island borough, where the SNL funnyman grew up.

The insider said: “Pete has never been a fighter but it’s like he didn’t want to look like a wimp.

“Kanye just started a fight and called him names and it’s childish – pathetic love drama.

“I became friends with Pete in February 2010 when he appeared twice on my show. I was the first who ever interviewed him. A guy who looked after him introduced us.

“He was very humble but he never let himself be bullied and back when he was in comedy clubs with older guys like me no one bothered him.

“I later found out about the bullying he had gone through.

“Honestly it seems like he got over it and he probably had it with Kanye. He defends his wife, stands up for her.”

Others told The Sun that they believe the comedian’s open disclosures about his tragic childhood made him seem like an easy target for Kanye.

He was just seven when his father, Scott – a New York City firefighter – died on September 11 after heroically storming into the collapsing World Trade Center, and he says he worries he’ll get a job because people have pity on him.

“It was sad how sad he was growing up,” his mother, Amy, told the New York Times, confiding that he became a “lab rat” for medical experts studying the effects of the terrorist attacks on victims’ children.

After losing his father, he developed mental health problems, pulled his hair out until it was bald, and battled suicidal thoughts.

“I tried to drown myself in the pool when I was in fourth or fifth grade,” he said. “I tried to put my head in the ladder at the deep end so I couldn’t get up.”

In a heartbreaking radio interview with Peter Rosenberg, he blamed himself when bullies started being “mean” to him.

“I was in school and I was having a hard time with grief, so I played a little bit,” he said. “I had no friends.”

He says he was treated like an outcast by classmates. One of them invited him to a birthday party – but said the only reason was that he felt sorry for him because he was an orphan.

He reportedly transferred between three high schools because of “behavioural issues.”

According to court documents reviewed by The Sun, a prestigious Catholic private school he attended was run by a priest accused of staging a “reign of terror”.

St. Joseph by the Sea’s principal, Father Michael Reilly, is being bludgeoned by three staffers in an ongoing case in the New York Supreme Court who allege he had gay, black, disabled and elderly staff and students with “an almost constant stream” of fouls. verbal insults.

Father Reilly has firmly denied all the allegations in a letter to parents, claiming they are “absurd”.

The insider recalled that Pete is among the supporters of the lawsuit.

Speaking in an Instagram tirade, the comedian wrote: “I went to this high school and I’m glad something is finally being done about Father Reilly.

“He’s an absolute monster and he ruined this high school. He should have been fired years ago. Fuck this guy. He’s an epic piece of shit and an ultimate motherfucker.”

The taunts Kanye used to berate Pete made it clear that Kim’s fiancé was in rehab.

“[I’m] really worried that SKETE might get my kids’ mother addicted to drugs,” he raged on Instagram, using the nickname he’d adopted for Pete. “He’s in rehab every 2 months.”

However, the comedian says he has used weed to help cope with the pain of a chronic illness, Crohn’s disease.

One of the shrinks who treated him diagnosed him with bipolar disorder — the same mental illness that afflicts Kanye, as he allegedly pointed out in a text message to the rapper.

He snapped, “Let me help you man. I also struggle with mental things.

“It’s not an easy journey, you don’t have to feel that way anymore. There’s no shame in having a little help. You will be so happy and at peace.

“But if you keep pressuring me like you’ve been doing for the past 6 months, I’ll stop being so nice.”
